Philip Wheeler

Dr Phil Wheeler is a senior lecturer in Ecology at the Open University in Milton Keynes. His background is in applied wildlife ecology and conservation addressing questions around wildlife monitoring and species ecology from UK uplands and tropical forests, mainly in South east Asia. Current work is focused on urban ecology including leading the Treezilla citizen science project which aims to engage diverse publics in mapping and measuring urban trees and understanding ecosystem services of urban trees and their valuation. He also teaches across the OU Environmental Science curriculum and contributes as an advisor to OU/BBC natural history co-productions including the flagship 2021 series A Perfect Planet.
